Brandon Arkin

Brandon Arkin

“I’ve learned that as a lawyer we not only have a duty to uphold the law but to advocate for change when we see injustice in the law. When the system is broken justice cannot prevail.”

Brandon Arkin is experienced in the areas of: Family Law, Estate Planning, Wills & Trusts, Advanced Planning Directives, and Elder Law. Brandon helps clients understand the divorce process from initial filing for divorce to final judgment.  This includes advising on: the determination of assets to be included in the divorce, requesting temporary relief pending the finalization of the divorce, obtaining exclusive use and possession of the marital home, paperwork needed to start the divorce process, understanding the discovery process and why mediation is a vital aspect of a divorce, the handling of issues regarding minor children during the divorce, and the division of assets and debts incurred during the marriage. If one party is in imminent fear for their safety or is being physically abused by the other party, Brandon will also advise on domestic violence and other injunctive relief.  In Paternity cases, Brandon informs clients on the process of establishing legal rights regarding a child born out of wedlock.  He also advises clients regarding Step-parent adoption, Guardianship of minors and temporary custody of a minor child by extended family members, as well as, support unconnected with dissolution of marriage.  Additionally, Brandon advises clients on Estate Planning, Wills & Trusts, Advanced Planning Documents, Probate, Guardianship, and Probate Avoidance regarding the transfer of their assets to best suit the clients’ desires upon their death.  Also, Brandon instructs clients on the proper documents to have in place (Durable Power of Attorney, Healthcare Surrogate, and/or Living Will) should they become incapacitated.

Brandon’s passion for helping others prompted him to seek a career in the law. He has experience litigating a wide range of family law cases including but not limited to divorce, child support, time-sharing, relocation, domestic violence, mediation and the Department of Revenue.

Brandon is an active member of the legal community. He has served as a prior Director on the Board of Dade County Bar Young Lawyers Association and as Executive Council Member of the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar.  Brandon also graduated from the inaugural class of the Florida Bar WM. Reece Smith, JR. Leadership Academy and has participated multiple committees of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar.  Brandon is also active in the local community. He has been recognized by Lotus House for providing educational services to woman in distress. He frequently volunteers with Chapman Partnership in Miami organizing events for the children and has spoken to religious groups on wills and estate planning issues.
