Four Simple Steps to Create Balance and Harmony

February 25, 2015

Our world is filled with stress, tension, challenges and the struggles of everyday life.  We need to constantly balance our personal and professional lives.  Demands of our profession can cause a constant internal struggle.  Dealing with legal issues can also increase your stress level.

We are often placed in a situation of choosing between the demands of our profession and our personal life.  So how do we create an internal balance to counter-balance the stresses and struggles of our hectic and busy work schedule?  How do we reduce stress when dealing with legal challenges?  There are four steps that you can implement in your daily life to create balance.

Step 1:  Meditation

Meditation can quiet your mind, body and enhance your spirit.  The practice of meditation can help counteract your daily stresses.  It is a discipline that you can bring into your life.  There are various forms of meditation.  They require you to still your mind from the everyday chatter.  It helps you observe your thoughts and take a moment away from the everyday drama and chaos.

If you are going to meditate, find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed for at least 15 – 20 minutes.  Sit comfortably on a chair or on the floor.  Relax your mind, breathe deeply and begin to pay attention to your thoughts.  One form of meditation is to use a mantra; that is a word or sound repeated in your mind.  Your mind now concentrates on your mantra and begins to dismiss outside thoughts.  You can also light a candle and focus your attention on the flame.  Alternatively, you can concentrate on your breath, the inhalation and exhalation.  It is your choice how you meditate.  Your goal is to begin to tap into a higher energy field (your spiritual intelligence field).  Begin to relax your mind and body.  This releases the stress from your day.  Begin to calm your mind.  You can check out the website  https://www.headspace.com/ for more information on meditation.

Step 2:  Breathing

Breathing is a vital life force and energy.  It is necessary that you breathe correctly to obtain more energy.  The air you breathe should expand your lungs, be drawn into your blood and calm your nervous system.

If you become stressed and overwhelmed you will notice your breath is more shallow.  Once your breath becomes shallow, your nervous system is not properly absorbing the energy and life force it requires.

There are many different breathing techniques you can use to calm your body and mind.  Your focus should be to center your breath on your abdomen.  As you breathe in fresh air, imagine oxygen and energy filling your body.  When you breathe out, imagine the stress and tension leaving your body.  Breathing properly can help reduce anxiety, high blood pressure, fatigue, panic attacks, headaches and more.  Remember, breath is a life force that can help maintain balance.

Step 3:  Visualization and Positive Thinking

Visualization is a technique that can help reduce stress by creating positive thoughts in your consciousness.  There are many creative visualization techniques you can implement in your daily life.  One technique is to visualize that you are calm and relaxed.  Imagine that your day will be filled with joy and excitement.  Realize each challenge as an obstacle to overcome to achieve positive energy.  Find a quiet place to sit, relax and breathe.  Think positively and imagine positive changes in your mind.  You might want to imagine yourself in calm surroundings.  Visualize yourself in this place, how it feels, and the emotions you are experiencing.  Connect to the joy you are experiencing in this moment.  Deposit this moment in your memory bank.  Remember to recall this moment during your next stressful event.  There are many visualization techniques you can incorporate into your life.  Your positive thoughts have a direct influence on how you feel and even how you react to a situation.

Step 4:  Affirmations

An affirmation is a positive statement that describes a positive thought or situation you desire to achieve.  Affirmations are usually repeated until the thoughts are embedded into your subconscious.  The affirmation programs your mind to respond in a positive manner when you experience a negative situation.  The power of affirmations can change your life.  If you realize your thoughts influence how you feel and act, then positive affirmations help create positive changes in your life.  Think, speak and act positively.

You are now on your way to creating balance and harmony in your life.  Apply these four techniques into your daily routine.  Begin to reprogram and recharge your positive thoughts, decrease your stress and remove negative thoughts from your consciousness.  Begin to balance your life, focus and appreciate the positivity in your life.

Live, enjoy and embrace your day!
